When we designed the interior of the Zoox robotaxi, we followed a simple principle: everything you need, nothing you don’t. If you look carefully, you’ll notice this guiding philosophy in every detail. From the touch screen to the lighting and sound, stepping into a Zoox is a completely new experience that also feels comfortingly familiar.

Different in all the best ways

Zoox isn’t a car, and it’s not designed like one. We aimed to create something closer to a living room on wheels than a traditional automobile interior. So, the first thing you notice when you enter a Zoox might be what’s not there. No fussy air conditioning controls, fiddly dials, or clumsy armrests. No clunky seats or clutter.

Instead: a spacious cabin and a sense of calm. The lights glow warmly as you enter, illuminating the space to help you find your seat. The air feels fresh and clean because it is. Two HVAC (heating, ventilation, and cooling) units cycle the cabin’s air every thirty seconds. 

Once you settle in, your attention may turn to the touch screen. This custom-designed device is a simple solution for navigating your ride and customizing your experience.

A great ride from the word go

You don’t have to do anything to experience a wonderful trip in a Zoox. We’ve crafted an environment that provides comfort as the default. The gentle hum of the soundscape washes away the outside world without demanding attention. The temperature’s just right. The soft lighting allows for both relaxation and focus. You’ll find a perfectly placed cupholder and wireless charging point at hand. Spacious seating and quality materials. Everything you need, nothing you don’t.

But there’s also plenty of functionality available. The touch screen serves two key purposes: providing information — your ETA, ride progress, an easy way to contact Zoox, and any updates or emergency information — and options to customize your ride. By consolidating everything in one clean interface, we can offer just enough interaction while maintaining a calm, uncluttered space.

Zoox offers a great experience without any adjustments. But if you want to tailor your ride, you’ve got options.

Each seat has zoned heating and cooling to keep you comfortable. If you're finishing off a work presentation, you can turn up the lights, turn off the music, and focus. If you're hitting the town with friends, you can cue up your playlist to match the mood. Relaxing after a long day? Dim the lights and enjoy a canopy of twinkling stars as you gaze out the moonroof.
