Zoox Pride, our crew-led Zoox affinity group, was founded to provide a safe and representative atmosphere for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual (LGBTQIA), and gender non-binary employees and allies. Zoox Pride promotes an inclusive and supportive workplace for all employees and all gender expressions to be visible and confident in being their authentic selves. The group strives to establish policies and make recommendations for improvements in promoting inclusiveness throughout the organization. Zoox Pride encourages connection and networking to drive discussions and ideas important to the community of LGBTQIA+ and allies.
In recognition of Pride Month this year, our Zoox Pride community took a look back to honor the work that has been done within the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrated looking forward to the new leaders emerging in the space. The aim for the group was to build a sense of community and foster togetherness. Our Zoox Pride community focused on internal programs and events that brought people together and encouraged crew to participate in conversations with daily Pride prompts to share ideas, thoughts, and learn from one another.
To start off the month, our Field Safety Manager, Bill Geddings, hosted a webinar on LGBTQIA+ Inclusion in the Workplace, to teach crew the language related to the LGBTQIA+ community. This workshop was hosted to help crew better understand the challenges that LGBTQIA+ employees often face related to their health and safety needs in the workplace.
