Zoox LatinX, our employee-led Zoox Affinity Group (ZAG), is dedicated to supporting and celebrating Latin and Hispanic cultures at Zoox and in the broader community. The group achieves this by offering opportunities for engagement with Hispanic and Latin team members across Zoox. The group also partners with our recruiting team to expand outreach efforts to Hispanic and Latin communities.

At Zoox, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month under the theme "Arriba Juntos," which translates to "We Rise Together" in English. This encapsulates the essence of collaboration and unity at the heart of Hispanic culture. Throughout the month, Zoox LatinX orchestrated a series of events emphasizing partnerships with local businesses as well as culture and community-building.

We kicked off the month with an Art Stroll in collaboration with Pepito’s Paletas, a local Latina-owned business that serves Mexican paletas (a treat similar to popsicles) made with natural ingredients, followed by fresh churros made onsite by Churros El Guero, a local family-owned churro stand.

In September, Zoox LatinX hosted a crew panel for community discussion. The panel explored topics such as finding a sense of belonging at Zoox and the challenges crew members have faced in their careers and how they overcame them.

Continuing the celebration, our LatinX community gathered at several on-site Cafecitos for coffee and casual networking. These events promoted community and encouraged our crew to relax and get to know each other. Cafecitos featured coffee from Tico Coffee Roasters, a Latina-owned coffee and tea company that offers craft-roasted specialty coffees and fine teas sourced directly from small farms around the world. Tico Coffee Roasters takes pride in only sourcing coffees and teas from growers that practice sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly farming methods. Additionally, Cafecitos also featured pan dulce from Las Hijas del Gallo Bakery.

Zoox LatinX collaborated with our on-site culinary team for a Salvadoran-style pupusa making class. Our crew got a hands-on opportunity to learn about the techniques, toppings, and sauces associated with Salvadoran cuisine.

Our Zoox LatinX community came together to conclude the month with a social gathering featuring music and community connection. As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close, let us remember to carry this spirit forward and honor the community’s contributions every day. Thank you to Zoox LatinX for fostering a sense of unity and togetherness for all our crew. Together, we rise!
