Discover what it’s like to be part of the crew at Zoox! We are proud to introduce some of our talented crew and provide an insider look into what it’s like to work at Zoox.

What do you do here at Zoox?

I am a Field Safety Operations Manager. I investigate events involving our robotaxis, provide training to first responders on how to safely interact with our robotaxis, and collaborate cross-functionally to reduce any company risks.

How did you find your career in the AV (autonomous vehicle) industry?

I started my career in the AV industry at Google X when I collaborated with Waymo and other programs in the fall of 2017. I then went to work at Wisk, an autonomous electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) company, and then made my way to joining Zoox in November 2020.

How do you hope to make an impact in this space?

Safety is my passion, and I have dedicated my life and career to protecting people. My hope is that the insights we gain from collaborating with our operations and engineering teams to continually enhance our hardware, software, and processes will contribute to a lasting impact on transportation safety for future generations.

What is it like to work at Zoox?

This is the most challenging and fast-paced job I’ve ever had. I get to work with the most talented and amazing teams. Every company milestone feels like the biggest win. Being one of the first riders in a robotaxi on public roads was like a dream come true.

What is a day in your life as a Field Safety Operations Manager like?

My team ensures that we are all following regulatory requirements and best practices in regard to AV safety and incident reporting. We are also responsible for the training of our emergency response partners in our service operation areas.

What excites you about the future of Zoox?

Creating a new form of transportation that will be safer than previous generations of vehicles excites me most!

What is your favorite feature of the Zoox robotaxi and why?

It is a very close tie between our bidirectional feature and the horseshoe airbag.

If you were a La Croix, what flavor would you be and why?

Cerise Limón or the Cherry Lime. The sweetness from the cherry flavor and the tartness of the lime mix very well together. I think I identify with those two because most people describe me as a nice or sweet guy, but I may come off a bit sour to some folks because of my passion for safety.

What’s an interesting fact about yourself?

When I was a police officer for the City of Clemson, I was awarded the Medal of Valor for saving a woman’s life after a suicide attempt.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

My husband, Simon, and I enjoy spending time with friends playing strategic board and card games. Recently we have been spending a lot of time with our family and three new nieces, all born mid-June this year!
