The EE Systems team touches every low-voltage electrical component on the vehicle. We own infotainment, telematics, sensor integration and cleaning (to enable autonomous driving), as well as ECU’s and low-voltage harnesses. As we mature our designs, we need to optimize the mass of our systems and components. The successful candidate will collaborate with component owners across the department to identify opportunities, select the most impactful projects, and implement mass-down solutions that will enable our goal of 16-hour driving on a single battery charge.


  • Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., Ph.D. or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program and within 1 year of graduation. For undergraduates, we are accepting only juniors and seniors
  • Minimum of a 3.5 gpa
  • At least one previous industry internship or co-op
  • Able to commit to a minimum of a 12-week internship
  • Professional and positive communication skills
  • Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California
  • Interns at Zoox may not use any proprietary information they are working on as part of their thesis, any published work with their university, or to be distributed to anyone outside of Zoox.


  • Working toward Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree
  • Simulation/FEA coursework (practical experience is a bonus)
  • Experience with 3D mechanical design and CAD software
