Our Calibration, Localization, and Mapping (CLAMS) team is responsible for building the algorithms and tools necessary for keeping Zoox vehicles well calibrated, always knowing where they’re located within the world, and aware of their environment. Without precise calibration, localization, and mapping our vehicles would be at a disadvantage when it comes to perceiving and reasoning about the surrounding world, and is therefore foundational in enabling results from many other teams across Zoox. This work is critical for scaling autonomous driving in a safe and reliable way. We are looking for engineers who are ambitious and excited about helping Zoox deliver on its goals to deliver autonomous mobility.
As a Release Engineer, you’ll support the rest of the CLAMS team by continuously automating and improving our build-and-release process, to enable faster, more reliable software releases. You’ll take pull requests developed by our software engineers, combine them into a cohesive release, and shepherd that release through our verification, validation, and overarching QA process. You will ultimately be responsible for seeing the software roll out onto our entire fleet of vehicles. In this role, you’ll work extremely closely with each of the development teams in CLAMS to understand the new changes coming, and help coordinate and plan our development activity around each release.
Perform the CLAMS software release process on a regular cadence
Identify areas for further automation, and continually automate and improve the release process
Run and evaluate the results of various evaluation suites developed within the team
Run internal and external testing tools and evaluate their results to determine if a CLAMS release will cause a performance regression for other team’s tools
Suggest and implement process improvements
Apply critical thinking to issues and problems and work with engineers within the team to apply fixes when issues are found
Reach out to external stakeholders for signoff of test results
Coordinate on-vehicle testing activities
