This role will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to design various function domain Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for Zoox autonomous vehicles in accordance with industry standards, best practices, and requirements.

Vaccine Requirement
The EE Design Engineer is required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. An applicant is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. Applicants will be required to show proof of vaccination status upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment. That conditional offer of employment will be conditioned upon, among other things, an Applicant’s ability to show proof of vaccination status. Please note the Company provides reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable state, federal and local laws. 

Responsibilities

  • Printed Circuit board design (including part selection, circuit design, and simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout)
  • PCB Assembly, hardware bring-up and debugging
  • Cross-functional collaboration with software, mechanical, and integration engineering teams

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years of professional work experience
  • Solid electrical engineering, analog, and digital circuit fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of schematic design and PCB layout tool (Altium Designer preferred)
  • Working knowledge of circuit design and simulation tools
  • Understand electrical system signal integrity and power integrity principles
  • Experience in board and system-level testing and characterization

Bonus Qualifications

  • Familiarity with common industry technologies and protocols including I2C, UART, SPI, CAN, LIN, Ethernet, PCIe, MIPI, etc
  • Experience in designing high-speed digital circuits with Ethernet and DDR SDRAM
  • Experience in embedded systems firmware development
  • Familiarity with automotive functional safety standards
  • Experience in automotive, EV, AV, aerospace, or similar industries
