Zoox is developing a world class planning system which demonstrates the power of autonomous vehicles. But we’re doing more than that: we’re developing a product which can operate day in and day out, in any kind of weather, with the reliability and robustness to enable customers to put their faith in our autonomous driving system.
You are the right engineer for this role if you are acutely aware of the difference between an effective demo and an effective product, and you are excited about the opportunity to take our world-class planning system and turn it into a world-first commercial product.
Overhauling fault management systems to be easier to use
Working with test operators to ensure diagnostic tools are clear and easy to understand
Providing mechanisms to increase transparency of the planning process
Creating and enforcing elegant, clean architectures for planner subprocesses
Master’s degree in computer science or related field
Fluency in C/C++
Significant experience with design and implementation of strong software architectures and algorithms
Strong sense for “clean” coding practices
Experience “shipping product”, i.e. writing software for a product which made it to market
Obsession with elegant software design
Experience with autonomous vehicles
Familiarity with Python
